When the cravings for chocolate strike, our best bet might be Royce', which boasts retail branches conveniently scattered throughout the Klang Valley, including Publika, KLCC, Tropicana City, Bangsar Village, Empire Subang & The Gardens.
Thanks to Royce' for this sampler kit of its Hokkaido-made specialties, certainly some of the most spectacular chocolates we've enjoyed in many, many months.
Our favorite: the Nama "Au Lait" _ smooth, sumptuous chocolate that melts in the mouth with a pleasurably peerless explosion of fresh, creamy flavor.
A RM45 box with 20 pieces of these cocoa-dusted babies isn't cheap, but it's well worth it.
Everything else pales in comparison, but it's still fun to snack on these creative, savory-sweet treats of ridged potato chips (RM45), coated with white chocolate & a touch of milky cheese. Fascinatingly crisp & creamy all at once.
Criollo Chocolate, favored by fans of dark, bitter varieties, thanks to the use of Venezuela's tropical "Sur del Lago" cacao beans for a deep, rounded flavor.
Utterly addictive: Whole-roasted almonds dipped in dark chocolate. Marvelous for munching.
Royce' Chocolates Malaysia.
My absolute FAV!! hehe
ReplyDeleteCiki: I can imagine myself becoming addicted to Royce's Nama chocs! =)
DeleteHeyyyyy.. I just had this last week! ;D love their dark choco..!!! Very fine quality~
ReplyDeleteEunice: ya, their range is quite impressive. enough varieties to try a different flavor every time. It might be difficult to choose a favorite flavor! Premium stuff =)
DeleteI had that potato chips too! HEHE it was certain interesting! When I was in Hokkaido, I was bombarded with tonnes go Royce chocolate!!! They were selling them in almost every gift shop! hehe no complaints :P
ReplyDeleteVien: ooh that's right, you were in the birthplace of Royce! that sounds like a dream trip. i wonder if i could stop by each shop and try some samples of the chocolates there! :D
DeleteEach shop was really generous and offered samples of most of the stuff they sell!!!! hehe definitely a chocolate heaven!!! :D
DeleteVien: ooo, i couldn't resist. i was publika this evening and stopped by the royce counter. we managed to taste some samples before buying a box. though the samples were understandably really, really tiny in size here! :D
Deletei was at publica the other day..
ReplyDeletepotato chips looks good ...well shall try it next time ..
Simple Person: hope you enjoy the chocolate-potato chips! i think they'd be nice to nibble on while watching TV :D
DeleteLead me not into temptation...deliver me from evil!!! LOL!!!!
ReplyDeleteSuituapui: resistance is futile! surrender to temptation! :D
DeleteNice!
ReplyDeleteThey contacted me for this but I was so busy cant even make time for an extra blogpost. I wonder hw it compares to say PL at BSC? Price + tastewise?
TNG: ooh, i guess the range here is wider than pierre ledent, but we have to buy these royce chocs in boxes of the same flavors, whereas pierre ledent allows mixing and matching. i think you'd get more chocs at royce for the same price :D
DeleteThanks for the info Sean :)
DeleteI'll be Japan this week so I guess I'll be seeing a lot more of Royce? :P
TNG: maybe! wonder if they're significantly cheaper in japan :D
DeleteRoyce is also one of my fav chocolates, first tried them many years ago when some Japanese friends gave us a few boxes.
ReplyDeleteBaby Sumo: royce chocolates would be the perfect present for me too (christmas hint to anyone reading this!) :D
DeleteI have bought countless boxes of Royce chocolates. But never eaten a single one! Next time, I buy for me, not as gift.
ReplyDeleteFootfringe: i can help share the box of chocolates! :D
DeleteI don'T have a sweet tooth but it is tempting, may just drop buy after class to pick up some for wife and kids, thanks !
ReplyDeleteWong: ooo or it could be a good gift for yor wife on your wedding anniversary, or maybe to celebrate one of your children's birthday, ya =)
Deleteso enticing!
ReplyDeleteKY: i'm usually not a major fan of chocolates, but i quite enjoy royce's ones :D
DeleteThose almonds in dark chocolate are addictively good. I normally avoid buying them since I dont stop eating till I finish them only to result in a crazy sore throat spell...a little like now that to Royce>.<
ReplyDeleteMissyblurkit: heheh, everyday now i'm thinking about the nama au lait chocolates. i wish i could have a few pieces everyday, but i think i'd probably gain one pound every month that way! the almond-dark choc ones are nice too! :D
DeleteYou lucky devil!!! ;)
ReplyDeleteYin: it was a true treat! :D
DeleteGosh you should also know how much the price has gone up since I first bought Royce from its humble store in KLCC. Nevertheless, it's still a tempting piece of chocolate that melts in the mouth.
ReplyDeleteEiling: oooh, ya, i guess the conversion rate between the japanese yen and the malaysian ringgit can be partly to blame for that. definitely would indulge in it more often if it were, say, 30 percent less pricey, heh =)
